Viewed from the front, the bird seems suspended within the quartz, creating a striking three-dimensional effect that changes as the piece is turned in the light. Natural hematoid inclusions in rich red, golden, and earthy tones surround the carving, adding depth and contrast throughout the crystal.

This artwork was created using a reverse intaglio carving technique. Unlike traditional carvings that are cut into the front surface, the image is engraved from the back of the crystal and viewed through the front. This creates the illusion that the bird is floating inside the quartz rather than sitting on its surface.
